Blue Diamond Flower is an erect perennial herb,
with branches thread-like, hairless. Leaves are up to 25 x 1 mm,
linear, entire, stalkless; stipule ovate, entire or 2-3 toothed.
Flowers are tiny, 2 mm long, borne in cymes at branch-ends.
Flower-stalks and flower-cluster-stalks are thread-like, 1.5-2 cm long;
calyx 1 mm long, sepals pointed, rough. Flowers are deep blue to
violet, tube hairy inside. Capsule is 2 x 1.5 mm, obovoid, flat at tip.
Blue Diamond Flower is distributed in Tropical Asia. In India it is
primarily seen in South India. Flowering: July-March.
Medicinal uses: Blue Diamond Flower is
traditionally used as an oxitocic agent during labour.
